Online Marketing Success – You Have to Diversify

online marketingIf you look at all of the people who have been successful in an online marketing business, and in any business over the years, you will see two common traits that they all have.

Successful People in Online Marketing are Interest in Everything, and Target the Entire World Population.


First of all, let me describe one type person I am not talking about. I’m sure you are familiar with the guy who has a steady 9 to 5 job, five days a week. He leaves that job every evening, and forgets about it until the next day. For the most part, he earns enough money to make a living, and sometimes, to just get by. All he concerns himself with is having enough money to pay his bills, and enough left over to enjoy life some of the time. He probably carries an Ipad around with him just to surf the internet for fun, or to play games in his spare time. This guy has a mentality that is called, Wage Mentality. He earns enough wages to take care of his needs. He is not wealthy, but he is content. To this guy, online marketing is like being in never-never land.

The second type of person is the one who is looking for that one opportunity in online marketing that will set him up for life. Unfortunately, he is in for a major disappointment. There are no magic buttons in online marketing. Neither is there a magic formula for achieving success in online marketing. He also carries his Ipad, but only to search the web for that one special money making internet marketing product that is going to solve all of his problems. He knows where he wants to be, but he has no idea what he is going to do, or how he is going to get there. Every week, his desires change. One week, he may be interested in something like making money taking surveys, and the next week, his interest may shift to affiliate marketing. While these are excellent things to be interested in, this person does not have the ability to follow through with them, because he is too busy looking ahead to where he wants to be, instead of focusing on the present task of working to get there. Somewhere along the line, he has gotten the impression, from a course he purchased, that if he sets up a successful ecommerce website, and begins making conversions and sales, he will be all set for life.

The third, and final person knows where he wants to go, and what he has to do to get there. He does not want to just make a living. He want more – a whole lot more. Unlike the two people described above, who are interested in the one big hit that they think will set them up for life, this person is interested in everything. He is intelligent enough to know that one successful website is not going to help him maintain his success in online marketing for a long period of time. Therefore, he wants to diversify. Unlike the wage earner, who has what is called Wage Mentality, this guy has something completely different. What he has is called Dream Mentality. By Dream Mentality, I mean that this guy knows what he wants, where he wants to be, and what he has to do to get there. He knows that money is not going to start coming in right away when he starts an online marketing business. More important, he knows that if he does what he has to do, and does it right, the money will start coming in like a rolling snowball going down a mountain.

Successful People in Online Marketing are Interested in Everything.

If you look at the accomplishments of the most success people in business over the years, you will notice one common element. They are interested in everything.

These people will purchase the courses that claim to make you an overnight success, but for different reasons. They will not purchase them to become an overnight success. Instead, it is to acquire as much information, and learn as much as they possibly can to achieve the success they know they will achieve in online marketing.

What Online Marketing Courses Don’t Tell You

First of all, let me say that most of the courses on making money in online marketing are very good. Whether you follow through with them and make money, or not, you still acquire very valuable information from them. Information that you now have, that you once did not have is always a good thing.

These courses are different, but basically focus on one thing – FIND A PROFITABLE NICHE AND GO FOR IT. And most of the courses do work if you apply the principles. However, what these courses do not tell you is, you can’t just do this one time and expect the Sun, Moon and Stars. You have to do this again, and again. Once again, this is what I mean when I say that you have to diversify.

It is not difficult to find a profitable niche. The first time you apply the principles, and find a successful niche, you are going to make money. However, there are two problems with this:

  • First, even though a very profitable niche will make you money right away, it will burn out eventually.
  • Second, let’s assume you find a good niche that is targeted to about ten percent of the population. That’s good. But what about the remaining ninety percent? If you don’t target them as well, you could be leaving a lot of money on the table.

Successful online marketers are already looking ahead. They know that these courses show you how to select a profitable niche and go for it. The successful people already realize that if this can be done the first time, it can also be done again and again and again. Now, think about this for a moment. The first time you do something like this, it will require some hard work. The second time you do it, it is a little easier because you are now experienced and know what you are doing. By the time you do this for the twentieth time, it is so easy that you can almost do it in your sleep.

Applying the Principle of Diversifying

SPREAD YOUR WINGS – DIVERSIFY

Whether you are selling your own products, affiliate products or dropship products, the principle of diversifying can be applied to any online business.

I have spent the last two years researching many profitable niches. I will be publishing a future article on how to find the most profitable niches. But for now, to find a profitable niche, you want to do three things: Identify a problem that your future customers have, Solve it fast, and Make it easy to solve.

Let us now look at a particular niche – Women’s Handbags. This is one of the fastest growing niches in the Women’s Luxury Market, with many products available at your disposal. Women love their designer handbags, and they will buy them from you. All you have to do is apply the marketing principles. Considering the fact that many designer handbags sell for $400 to $1,200, this niche can be a real money maker. But not all of the world population is women who want designer handbags. I conservatively estimate that this niche is targeted to approximately twenty percent of the world’s population. What about the remaining eighty percent? If you concentrate only on women’s handbags, and put all of your eggs in one basket, again you are leaving money on the table – a lot of money.

Another profitable industry is men’s and women’s jeans. Add this niche to your online marketing business, and your target market will increase. Following are other niches that I have researched, and have found to have much profit potential:

These are just a few of the possibilities. The list of profitable niches with potential is endless.

The point I am trying to get across to you is this: The most successful internet marketers and entrepreneurs don’t just find one niche and make it profitable. They are interest in as many things as is humanly possible. With the women’s handbag niche, you will only target a portion of the world population. Add some other niches, like the ones above, and you will expand your target market enormously.

This is not at all difficult to do. If you do it once, you know what to do next. Don’t just stop at one niche. Diversify. Domain names can be purchased today for practically pennies on the dollar. With this, and the easy distribution of goods through affiliate marketing and dropshipping, you can be well on your way to creating an internet marketing dynasty.

In conclusion, as you move towards building your very own successful online marketing business, go after the entire world population. Take an interest in everything. Don’t worry if you don’t know anything about a certain niche. Research does not take up that much time. Once you start targeting many niches, you will be surprised at how much you will learn about each market.
